Workshops
Learning opportunities take place from 2-3:30pm and 4-5:30pm July 8, 9, and 10.
All workshop rooms will be set for their maximum capacity. The maximum capacity for each room will be clearly posted. When full, the doors to the rooms will close. Please honor the capacity of the rooms.
Each workshop will offer 60-75 minutes of content, conversation, and interaction time. This allows for translation during the 90-minute workshop timeframe. When you join a workshop, please stay for the entire time.
Attendees from within the United States are encouraged to allow GYPC attendees from outside the United States have first choice for learning opportunities. There are enough learning opportunities for everyone to attend. Each workshop, besides those in the Redwood Conference Centre occur multiple times.
The topics for workshops were drawn from the most popular responses expressed pre-event and during the registration process.
Legislation & Advocacy– The “CALLED TO LEAD: YOUR TIME IS NOW” is offered twice every day. Very experienced leaders at the United Methodist General Conference are kind enough to give their expertise and guidance. Everyone is encouraged to attend this opportunity at least once. We want GYPC attendees to become aware of legislative processes in the United Methodist Church and be empowered to advocate and act, using those processes to encourage movements and lead the church of now into the future.
Large Room– The Redwood Conference Centre, where our worship times also take place, will be the largest room available during learning opportunity times. If every other opportunity seems full, come to the large room on July 8 at 2pm to hear from our friends in the Irish Methodist Church and July 9 at 2pm for a prayer service with Mending Wings, led by indigenous Americans from the Pacific Northwest.
Agency & Leadership Lunch Tables – With many small rooms and each workshop offered a limited amount of times, we recognize that you may not be able to attend everything you would like in terms of workshops. During lunch hours, workshop leaders and leaders from United Methodist General Agencies have agreed to eat in the Fahrenheit room and discuss their workshops or other opportunities.
