A DREAM TEAM: GOD AND NEIGHBOR TO THE RESCUE

Claudine Leary (Discipleship Ministries)
We often hear Jesus' command to love God and neighbor with all our heart, soul, and mind. But what if that love flows the other way first? In this workshop, participants will hear a story of a life sustained by love as a refugee and reflect on the truth that God does not ask of us what God has not first given us. Claudine was a student at Rwandan National University and was in Kigali, Rwanda on Easter break in April 1994 when the genocide started that would claim between 500,000 and one million lives by that July. She fled, walking and hitchhiking her way to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Later she moved to Dzaleka refugee camp in Malawi, and enrolled at Africa University. She currently lives and works in the United States.
