Cultivating a BOLD Voice: Writing for Worship

This workshop teaches processes and disciplines to help participants nurture and develop their gifts and graces for writing prayers and other liturgies for use in corporate worship. Students will have an opportunity to practice what they learn and receive feedback from one another during the workshop by writing prayers around the same scripture or theme. The goal is to equip students with tools that help them exercise and develop their voice in ways that can contribute to corporate worship in their communities/contexts.

Workshop leader: Dr. Lisa Hancock, Discipleship Ministries

How will it help you be BOLD? The workshop fits with the event theme by offering tools that help students articulate their identities as Christians and utilize their gifts and graces for the benefit of the Body of Christ by using their unique voices. The workshop fits the scripture because the liturgy is one of the key areas we experience the voices and wisdom of the cloud of witnesses, even when we do not realize that is happening. This workshop helps students contribute to that cloud of witnesses even as it encourages them to find and use their voice to bolster their own faith and that of their churches.
