Over the last several weeks the church world (along with the rest of the world) has been scrambling to understand how we do what we are called to do in a socially distanced, increasingly online world. Don’t worry. You don’t have to do it all by yourself. There are a lot of great tools to help you continue teaching and forming your students spiritually. Here are three that can help right away!
- Free Video Lessons from Amplify – The United Methodist Publishing House’s media subscription platform (Amplify Media) has stepped up to the plate with free stuff. For a limited time, Amplify has made several resources free and accessible for churches to participate in a church-wide or group study and children’s content to keep them engaged in the Bible. Though there is not youth-specific content, studies like “The Way” by Adam Hamilton that take you on a video tour of important holy land sites can translate very well to the youth ministry world. Consider sending youth a link to the video to watch and then log on afterwards to discuss it together!
- Zoom Games – Who knew that so much of our ministry would involve zoom!? Man of us have discovered that in the video conferenced version of youth ministry a lot of our standard games don’t translate well. Don’t worry. Here is a great list of zoom games you can use to spice up your next youth group video conference!
- Training on Using Digital Technologies for Faith Formation – Last but not least, you are likely getting to the point where you wish you had a little more training on how to use digital technology for faith formation. There was a great webinar that you’ve already missed, but don’t worry! You can watch the webinar by Scott Hughes of Discipleship Ministries and get the training you need!
