Feed The World

Note to the Teacher

This lesson focuses on the need for our hands to be signs of healing in our communities. Jesus met the need with leftovers. How can we help “feed” those around us?

2. Ice Breaker - Ask:

  • Have you ever thought about what it would be like to not know where your next meal would come from?

  • Have you ever come in contact with a homeless person? What did you think?

  • If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life or had one last meal, but it could be anything you wanted – what would you choose? Why?

15 min

3. Scripture: Jesus had been teaching for a while and so many people had come – but they were getting hungry. Check out what Jesus did. Read John 6:1-14

20 min

4. Discussion:

  • What was the test that Jesus gave Philip and Andrew?

  • What grades would you give Philip and Andrew in this story? Why?

  • Have you ever failed to remember how Jesus can provide?

  • When has God stretched your resources (physically, emotionally) far beyond what you thought you could have imagined?

Read John 6:25-29

  • How does Jesus use their interest in food to illustrate what he wants them to understand? Read John 6:35

  • What else is our world hungry for?

  • How can our church better meet the needs of those who are in need in our community?

  • So many in our community are seeking healing and food. How can we be the hands of Jesus? How can we feed and bring healing to the people?
