2022 Recommendations for Staff Positions Related to Youth Ministry

By Chris Wilterdink

The call of churches to be in significant ministry with young people is clear and vital. The church must take youth ministry seriously and serve diligently in this mission field. Youth and young adult ministries can be at their best when the leaders of those ministries feel adequately supported and cared for as they live out their calling.

The following document combines knowledge and observations from leaders around the church who desire to see a vibrant future for the church. Frequent turnover and a lack of intentionality in staffing ministry with young people is a challenge that the church must meet in order to continue building up young generations of disciples.

Pastors, church committees, and youth leaders themselves will each find this document useful as they prayerfully consider the best way to staff youth ministry in a local congregation.
