$26,000 in DMYP Grants to NCJ Young People!

Friends, we are really excited to celebrate the young people’s ministry grants that have been awarded by the Division on Ministries with Young People and the Youth Service Fund!

2012 DMYP projects recommended for funding

The North Central Jurisdiction had a great showing especially in the DMYP Grants with 3 projects awarded a total of $26,000. Below are descriptions of the winning projects in our area:

Youth Lounge – Broadway UMC, Chicago, Illinois
An outreach ministry to the marginalized community surrounding Broadway UMC that provides relationship building with church; connecting youth to services (shelters, health, addiction); other cultural trauma related information. $15,000

Seasons of Praise – St. Mark UMC, Chicago, Illinois
This ministry invests in people, utilizing martial arts Scripture to help participants achieve more of their potential spiritually, physically intellectually, while providing opportunities to share this investment with others. $5,000

Ministry with Emerging Adults – Clay UMC, South Bend, Indiana
A new worship service uniquely blending traditional worship elements (music teaching), small group fellowship community-impacting service work in the church the community. $6,000
